In one of richest countries in the world, nobody should go hungry. In Alameda County, 179,000 people -- 1 in 4 residents -- rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and their funds are dangerously in limbo with the government shutdown. Every dollar raised goes directly to the Alameda County Community Food Bank, which distributes enough food for 60,000 residents daily, helps families access nutritious food, advocates at all levels of the government to end hunger and poverty, and so much more.
