The federal government shutdown is having a wide variety of impacts including to the SNAP/CalFresh nutritional support program.  While it appears there is movement toward ending the shutdown, the delay/disruption to SNAP/CalFresh benefits may be immediate and lingering.  (We note that Mayor Lurie, through a public/private partnership, has guaranteed SNAP/CalFresh benefits for SF residents through November).  As such, many facing food insecurity will turn to local food banks.
