Birthday Fundraising Drive
Birthday Fundraiser
Although most of us are still reeling from the election results, let's keep doing what we can do to improve the lives of those who need help the most. One in four residents of Alameda County -- more than 400,000 people, including many elders and children -- currently experience hunger. The Alameda County Community Food Bank, with which I have been volunteering since the pandemic, provides nearly one million meals worth of food every week through its network of over 400 partners -- food pantries, senior centers, school programs, community centers and shelters. The ACCFB Food Recovery Program recovered from farmers, grocery stores and food distributors 10.4 million pounds of food which otherwise would have gone to landfills this past year. Its outreach efforts in the last 12 months helped Alameda County residents access government benefits which enabled them to purchase 6 million meals. Its advocacy work continues to push for, and protect, critical anti-poverty and anti-hunger legislation in recognition that hunger is a social justice issue.
These are, and I fear, will remain to be difficult times for immigrants and the most vulnerable in Alameda County. Please help me celebrate my 70th birthday this month by supporting ACCFB through a contribution to my Birthday Fundraiser. And certainly, feel free to share this page with anyone else who might want to help end hunger in Alameda County.
Thank you for joining my birthday party and making a difference in the lives of so many in the Alameda County community!
With love, Margaret
