Food is a basic human right.
Our post-election commitment to fight for what we believe

We need your help more than ever. Your commitment—including your voice and enthusiasm—energizes our staff, board, agency partners and all who support us. If you’ve never joined our efforts as an advocate, now’s the time.

Have everything you need? Instead of gifts, fundraise for the Food Bank!

This holiday, 6-year-old Alex decided he didn’t want any presents. That’s right – not even small ones. Instead, he’s asking for donations to the Food Bank by using our brand-new fundraising site.

You, too, can start your own fundraiser to pool your family, friends or coworkers together and share your holiday.

It’s super easy to set up a page, and a powerful way to spread the warmth of the holidays with our community.

Holiday Roundup: How can you help the Food Bank?

We know you’re busy during the holidays. Luckily, dozens of local businesses make it a breeze for you to contribute while you’re out and about. Whether you’re grabbing some lunch, picking up groceries, or even shopping for gardening supplies, you don’t have to go far to support our neighbors who rely on the Food Bank this season.

Food Drives in
Spots You'd Never Expect

Who said supporting the Food Bank can't take the shape of Squirtle and Pikachu? Alameda County's Stone Soup sculpture contest never ceases to impress us.

Every year, a slew of dedicated local businesses and organizations step up to collect food and funds in unique, creative ways. This year was no exception.

Thank you to all the local organizations who have pulled out all the stops! Here are just a few:

  • Every year, Alameda County hosts an elaborate, amazing sculpture competition using cans—along with collecting thousands of pounds of food. This year, employees also collected enough funds for over 31,000 meals!

  • The Oakland Acupuncture Project, which offers acupuncture on a sliding scale, gives discounts to patients who donate online or bring food to their office before their appointment.
  • Since 2008, All Smogs in Dublin has offered a discount for customers who contribute to their food drive barrels. Over the years, they’ve collected nearly 11,000 pounds of food.
  • Aurora Theatre in Berkeley offered discounted, "pay-what-you-canned" tickets to theatre-goers who brought along non-perishables.
It's not too late to sign your organization up for a food and fund drive today!

We serve 1 in 5 Alameda County residents, including Akbart.

It's the perfect time to make a holiday gift in the name of a friend or family member. Your donation confirmation will include a link to our new eCards!
