Summer is here and we need your help!

Sherlyn
Help us sort our seasonal produce!
Summer might mean long, warm days and no homework, but without access to free and reduced price school lunch it’s also a stressful time for many families.

How can you help? Bring your group to volunteer in our warehouse! We need helping hands during the weekdays for a quick turnaround on our fresh summer produce. Sign up for a group shift today!

Summer Produce Challenge
With this match, your gift will go twice as far!

Juicy plums, tomatoes, sweet corn—too many low-income children in our community are at risk of missing out on the amazing fresh produce summer brings.

You can change that.

Help us purchase vitamin-packed fruits and veggies by joining the 2016 Summer Produce Challenge.

Donate by July 15 and your gift will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000.

Genentech: Scientists in the warehouse!

When not sorting plums in our warehouse, Genentech employees are working to solve some of the most complicated biomedical problems out there, including curing cancer. Somehow the company still finds the time to give back.

Genentech has sent volunteers for the last seven years during their annual June “Genentech Gives Back Week.” In total, 230 Genen-techies have served 782 hours at the Food Bank. Thanks Genentech!

Volunteers by the Numbers

2016 is halfway over — and we already have so much to appreciate. Here’s a breakdown of how impactful volunteers’ time and energy has been to our efforts this year.

7,116 volunteers so far in 2016.

49
full-time employees required to match the hours volunteered.

47 inches =
the circumference of our giant nametag ball. (It weighs about 35 pounds!)

2 million pounds
of produce sorted and packed by volunteers so far this year.

39,673
hours volunteered – enough for a rocketship to travel to the moon and back…275 times.

Food Bank Finals Challenge

When the NBA Finals tipped-off in June, we challenged Greater Cleveland Food Bank to a #FoodBankFinals rematch to see which city’s fans could raise the most for their community!

The finals were a roller coaster for both teams, but in the end, our beloved Warriors didn’t take home the trophy. Despite our heartbreak, there was one thing we still found ourselves cheering about. Together, we raised over $12,000—enough for 27,000 meals for our neighbors.

Thank you for making the Food Bank Finals another major victory for our community!

Do we have your vote?

Cast your vote by July 8 for the best non-profit or charity in the East Bay Express’ “Best of the East Bay” poll! Our category is on page two.

Volunteer Appreciation Picnic

On July 30, we're celebrating your time and energy with BBQ in the park and games! Stay tuned for an invitation.

We need your voice.

Thank you for making us Food Bank of the Year!

In April, Feeding America awarded us their highest honor among 200 food banks nationwide. It wouldn't have been possible without your passion, commitment and partnership in our pursuit of a hunger-free community.
